Welcome to our what’s on guide for the February half-term across Yorkshire. This is our ultimate guide to the best events for kids, Make sure you bookmark this page so that you can keep checking back.
We often find at the February half-term that some places aren’t even open so hopefully this post will give you some inspiration. Please double-check the event descriptions on the attraction’s website as the below information could change. You must read their own information carefully. An entrance fee applies for most of these events and some events have an extra fee to take part.
February Half-Term Events East Yorkshire
Burton Agnes Hall and Gardens
When? 3rd February to 25th February Event – Snowdrops in the Woodland About – Every February, thousands of hardy snowdrops push through the cold winter ground to create a magnificent ‘white carpet’ across the woodland floor here at Burton Agnes. Walking peacefully among these makes a truly memorable day out at the end of the long winter. The beautiful little flowers grow in numbers each year and are such a welcome sight.

Burton Constable Hall and Grounds
When? Now until 30th April Event – Life Below Stairs About – Containing glimpses of the hidden world of the servant’s hall, with its own strict hierarchy and limited comforts, this exhibition reveals the day-to-day details of life for servants at the hall from the 18th and 19th Centuries. Discover what life would have been like for Antoine Reny, Lady Clifford Constable’s fashionable French Lady’s Maid from Paris, and for Susan Hoe, the first housemaid in 1866. The display reveals the difficulties of life ‘below stairs’, but also the status that some servants held in the household and how close some came to being counted as family.

Sledmere
When? Coming Soon Event – Snowdrop Trail – Towards the end of January and into early February we will welcome the arrival of our stunning display of snowdrops and winter flowering bulbs.

The Deep
When? 10th – 18th February Event – Flippin Marvellous – Enjoy daily presentations of their Gentoo penguins at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at Endless Ocean; they will be jam-packed with fun facts about our own penguins, their quirks, how they are fed, their habitat, and more. Plus, you can engage in fun and interactive conservation-focused games! Decorate your own personal pebble and take it home with you as a gift for someone- just like a penguin would. P-p-pick up a penguin trail sheet from the entrance turnstile and return your completed sheets to us for the chance to win an exciting prize bundle.

William’s Den
When? 10th to 18th February Event – February Half Term Adventures – Join us this February half-term for all-day adventure play – with added science fun from Dragons’ Den winners Sublime Science and our Play Pioneers.

February Half-Term Events North Yorkshire
Beningbrough Hall and Grounds
When? 10th – 18th February Event – February Half-Term – Have you met Dick and Rover yet? They are dogs from the estate years ago. Pick up the free family trail to become an ‘Awesome Architect’ and let them lead you around the garden. Pick the right puppy for your age for the most suitable adventure and challenges, or as a family, try them all. As you wander, drop into the wilderness play area for slides, swings, climbing and den building.

Embsay and Bolton Abbey Railway
When? 15th-18th February Event – Dino Week – Come and see the dinosaurs this February half-term as they invade our railway! You’ll be greeted by the dinos and their keepers at Bolton Abbey Station before joining them on the train to travel to meet the giant dinos at Embsay Station. Have you ever seen a dancing dino? Now’s your chance with our 15-minute show followed by photo opportunities. On return to Bolton Abbey Station make sure you look out for our visiting birds of prey.

Fountains Abbey
When? 10th – 18th February Event – Winter Trail – Pick up your spotter sheet from any admission point and head on your adventure. How many winter sights can you spot? Look up and get your head stuck in the clouds. If the rain decides to pour, put your wellies on and splash in some puddles. Challenge your family and friends to a game of pooh sticks on the different bridges through the estate. And head to the bird hide to spot some of our feathery friends.

Kiplin Hall
When? 9th to 25th February Event – Buckets of Fun – Discover buckets of fun activities hiding in the grounds of Kiplin this February Half Term. Play games, explore trails, learn, and laugh as a family in the fresh air. Kiplin’s Buckets of Fun will be placed in the grounds and gardens for you to find. They are filled with games and resources on themes like bird watching, music and more. The contents have been designed to encourage children and adults to talk, play and work together.

When? 12th-16th February Event – Half-term family activities – This February half-term join us for more than just a train ride as we embark on a week of discovery, learning, and family fun. Drop in craft corner 12th-16th. Drop-in Signal box demonstrations 14th-15th and more.

RHS Harlow Carr
When? 10th to 18th February Event – World on Your Windowsill – Join the fun this February half term at RHS Garden Harlow Carr, with activities for all to enjoy. Join the Garden Detectives, follow the seasonal garden trail, and create your own herby character. Take part in our Wellbeing Wednesday sessions, with a storytelling yoga session.

When? 10th to 18th February Event – February Fun Events Sublime Science in the Stockeld theatre. Covered ice skating. Plus all the regular fun things to do.

February Half-Term Events South Yorkshire
Boston Park Farm – Event Confirmed
When? 10th to 17th February Event – Lambing – Make the most of your visit by seizing the opportunity to meet our knowledgeable farmers, who will share insights about our sheep flock. Observe the heart-warming experience of lambs feeding and indulge in our popular animal handling sessions. Additionally, join in with a fun sheep hunt around the farm, adding an extra layer of excitement to your day.

Brodsworth Hall and Gardens
When? 10th to 18th February Event – Half-Term History Makers – Join characters from the past for historical hijinks and hands-on activities at Brodsworth Hall this half term. Head back in time to the glamourous Georgian era and be entertained by flamboyant pantos in the grounds of this beautiful mansion.

Cannon Hall Farm
When? 10th to 18th February Event – Lambing – Join us for the lambing season – one of Cannon Hall Farm’s most exciting times in the farming calendar. Our shepherds will be caring for more than 100 pregnant ewes who are expecting lambs over the holiday period. Our farmers – who have been made famous thanks to their appearances on Channel 5 TV show Springtime on the Farm and The Yorkshire Vet – will be in the roundhouse every day answering your questions.

Magna – Event Confirmed
When? 10th to 25th February Event – Febru-Airy half-term – Explore Magna Science Adventure Centre and complete the special Trail throughout the whole of February Half Term! Don’t forget to take your completed trail to our shop to claim your prize. Plus join us for our fun family activities.

Abbey Museum
When? 9th to 18th February Event – Half-Term Year of the Dragon – Celebrate Chinese New Year and the Year of the Dragon with our decorated streets inspired by the 12 characters of the Chinese zodiac.

When? 10th to 18th February Event – Connect with Nature Trail – This February half-term we are encouraging mindfulness in nature. Can you find shapes in the clouds or hear the birds sing? There will be activities to do in the grounds and space to draw what makes you happy in the discovery room.

When? 10th to 25th February Event – Science Carnival – Join us this half term for our Eureka! Science Carnival, featuring a range of special guests across TWO whole weeks…

Lotherton Hall
When? 10th to 18th February Event – Half-Term Love Birds – Flock to Wildlife World this February half-term to see many of our feathered friends and take part in family crafts at Lotherton.

Nostell Priory
When? 10th to 18th February Event – Track Spotter Trail – Grab a free trail sheet and pencil from the ticket office and set out to explore the gardens. Make sure you keep your eyes peeled and collect all the rubbings and spot signs of animal activity as you go. You’ll also learn some interesting facts about these animals and how they survive the winter. The winter trail winds through our woodland adventure play area so don’t forget to bring wellies and waterproofs for some extra squelchy jumping, swinging and zipping through the trees.

Royal Armouries
When? 10th to 18th February Event – Superheroes – Marvel as our heroes fly through the air on trapezes, enjoy superhero showdowns and snap a selfie with one of our roaming superstars this February half term. Sharpen your skills at our superhero academy featuring a laser maze and foam blasters, enjoy a ‘real or not real’ interactive quiz from the superhero universe, and watch live recreations of iconic scenes from movies, using weapons and replicas from our collection.
