Europe is the 6th largest continent in the world, out of just seven. It is home to around 50 countries including Spain, Italy, France, Iceland, a number of Scandinavian countries, Balkan countries such as Croatia and Bulgaria and many more.
As a British citizen, mainland Europe is incredibly accessible. We can take the Euro tunnel to France or a boat to many different destinations. Or we can choose to take flight on airlines such as Ryanair, Easyjet, Jet2, TUI and many more.
The most popular destinations include Spain, which is the most visited by Brits. Then there’s France, Italy, Greece, Portugal, the Republic of Ireland, Turkey, Poland, Netherlands etc etc. Trying to decide on where to visit isn’t always easy and we have lots of helpful posts on our website to help you decide.
Time after time people return to read our posts for inspiration and our list of some of the best hotels in Europe with waterparks is no exception. There are some absolutely amazing waterparks to be found and with the excellent weather in Europe, these are a great way to have fun while keeping cooler.
A lot of families will visit Europe to enjoy its great range of beaches. Children can spend many happy hours playing at the beach and Turkey is certainly our number one choice for beachfront hotels with Spain coming a close second.
We loved to holiday in Europe when our son was a toddler. We could holiday during school term time so it was cheaper and the hotels were less busy. The climate makes it a great choice for younger children and the shorter flight times are always for the win. One of our particular favourites is the Kiani Beach Resort in Crete. You can enjoy an all-inclusive package, there is a pool area for younger children plus a fun kids club.
Children of all ages can also be kept entertained on holiday via a great choice of Kids Clubs. There are often clubs for different age ranges which have activities to suit. Plus many of these hotels offer other fun-filled activities such as waterparks, splash parks, family-friendly shows and more.
Europe is also a great place to visit for a weekend city break, perfect for a bank holiday weekend or for those who struggle to get away for a week. Weekend breaks are a great way to immerse yourselves in local culture and history. Staying in Rome is essential for exploring this historic city or why not try somewhere like Faro with its historic old town?
If scenery is your thing then why not check out our post on the best lakes and mountains holidays in Europe? The scenery can rival that of many other countries outside of Europe, all without having to travel too far from home. Visiting these specific areas and countries in Europe is a great opportunity to reconnect with nature plus there are many thrilling activities available nearby.
One thing that’s great about Europe is that some countries enjoy the winter sun. If the good old British weather is getting you down we can provide you with inspiration to destinations such as Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Malta and Madeira.
For us, another must is finding a hotel that has options with two bedrooms. With two light sleepers, we prefer to have a different room to the snorer in the family. Two-bedrooms can also be great for larger families. If you can relate then please do check out our relevant post. We also have a post sharing some of the best hotels in Europe with private pools and also one for hotels with swim-up rooms.
Do you feel like treating yourself? We have 22 luxury hotels to check out in Europe. There are some fantastic pools to enjoy a swim in, some excellent spa facilities, sports facilities and stunning hotel rooms. The 5* Jupiter Albufeira is one of our particular favourites with many leisure activities, a splash pool and a hotel-run kid’s club.
At the other end of the budget, we also have some great hotels listed in our budget-friendly post. The hotels have great reviews on TripAdvisor plus plenty to keep all the family entertained. All-inclusive hotels can also be great on the budget. We will often choose an all-inclusive hotel because what’s better than not having to dip into your pocket while you are on holiday? There are some excellent all-inclusive hotels in Europe and we would recommend Jet2 or TUI for the all-in package holiday.
